Una traccia della leggenda mariana nel laboratorio di Pascoli e d'Annunzio: "Suor Beatrice"

According to an accurate analysis concerning the complicated relationship between Pascoli and d’Annunzio, an important fact is clearly shown. Either Gabriele or Giovanni, both experts «workers of the word» and «hard-working artisans», always united by a common denominator on the basis of antiquarian learning, benefit themselves uninterruptedly of the same working tools. However, a strong similarity which permits to track the numerous and multiple coincidences in their laboratories, especially when both have the opportunity to compete in unison with the Franciscan and Dantesque Middle Ages, or better yet, with the fabulous and portentous strength of the medieval Christendom, common home of the two poets, where the legend, «the flower of history», is mostly the driving engine of writing.

Da un’attenta analisi del complesso rapporto tra Pascoli e d’Annunzio, emerge con forza un dato ormai ineludibile: sia Gabriele che Giovanni, esperti «operai della parola», «artefici laboriosi » e sodali a oltranza sul terreno dell’erudizione antiquaria, si giovano – e spesso in maniera sincronica – degli stessi strumenti di lavoro. Una spiccata consentaneità che permette di rintracciare le numerose e molteplici coincidenze nei rispettivi laboratori, specie quando entrambi hanno l’opportunità di misurarsi all’unisono con il Medio Evo francescano e dantesco, o meglio, con quella dimensione portentosa e favolosa della cristianità medioevale, casa comune dei due poeti, in cui la leggenda, «fiore della storia», rappresenta il più delle volte il motore propulsore della scrittura.
