With different representations (dramatic works, novels, poems, essays, diaries, paintings ...) the francophone Belgian writer Henry Bauchau (1913-2012) carries on the narration of a tormented existential path, inhabited by the presence of a "desire for feminine identity" and a "desire for power". With regard to these two intimate issues, perceived by his “ego” as negative, his imagination and his writing engage an endless struggle. In this article we outline first the modalities of the appearance of these desiring instances and of the long period of removal that was the consequence. Then we focus on the first literary production of Bauchau following the psychoanalytic analysis with Blanche Reverchon Jouve and Conrad Stein and especially on the novel Le Régiment noir, to examine how it manages to achieve a pacification of its inner conflicts.

Abstract
With different representations (dramatic works, novels, poems, essays, diaries, paintings ...) the francophone Belgian writer Henry Bauchau (1913-2012) carries on the narration of a tormented existential path, inhabited by the presence of a "desire for feminine identity" and a "desire for power". With regard to these two intimate issues, perceived by his “ego” as negative, his imagination and his writing engage an endless struggle. In this article we outline first the modalities of the appearance of these desiring instances and of the long period of removal that was the consequence. Then we focus on the first literary production of Bauchau following the psychoanalytic analysis with Blanche Reverchon Jouve and Conrad Stein and especially on the novel Le Régiment noir, to examine how it manages to achieve a pacification of its inner conflicts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
