We study the constraints that a joint fit to the CKM matrix and to inclusive quantities in B and K physics can place on the top quark and on the Higgs sector. We show that no significant bound on Mt can be obtained. We then determine the regions of parameter space that are allowed for the simplest extension of the minimal standard model, to the case of two Higgs doublets.
