Buffalo oocytes were examined at the light and electron microscopes to observe structural changes before and after in vitro maturation (IVM). Ovaries from slaughterhouse animals were used as donors of follicular oocytes. IVM was carried out in culture drops under paraffin oil at 38°C in 5% CO2 for 24 hrs. TCM199 + 20% FCS with 5 x 106 granulosa cells/ml plus 2 IU FSH and 2 IU LH/ml was used. Many structural changes observed in buffalo oocytes were in agreement with previous studies in cattle.
