In the paper an experimental campaign on a full scale RC beam-column joint subjected to cyclic loading is presented. The specimen, belonging to a 4-storeys RC framed structure designed only to gravity loads, was firstly tested as-built, damaged, and then newly tested after the application of a retrofitting system named DIS-CAM. This intervention aimed at increasing the joint performance to achieve seismic capacity equivalent to joints designed in moderate seismic zone (i.e. peak ground acceleration equal to 0.25g). The paper describes design and execution of the retrofitting intervention and presents test results before and after such intervention. Specifically, main results showing a remarkable increase in strength and deformation capacity although in the previous test the specimen was heavily damaged.
