The research activity on the chimneys carried on in Italy is funded by CNR (National Research Council) and is focused on the thermal performances. The results are presented with reference to two research programs dealing with scientific and standardization work in progress. The attention is restricted to the chimneys working in dry conditions. The conclusions are favorable to DIN standards for the design and for the measurement of thermal resistance.
