The current status of K decay physics is reviewed. Together with an analysis of the different decay modes, emphasizing their significance as tests of the standard model and as probes for new physics, a discussion of the experimental capabilities of the various existing facilities is presented. Also surveyed are the chances for development offered to such studies by future plans of high-luminosity machines.
