Parlando con Luigi Pirandello. Un colloquio futurista su «L’Integral» (1925),

This essay analyses and presents, for the first time in Italian translation, a little-known interview with Luigi Pirandello, published in 1925 in the Romanian avant-garde magazine «Integral» and conducted by Mihail Cosma. By reconstructing the European cultural context of the 1920s, the essay highlights the reception of Pirandello’s theatre within Futurist and avant-garde circles. Particular attention is given to the relationship between Pirandello and the poetics of simultaneity, movement, and the transcendence of traditional theatricality, also in light of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti’s reflections on Pirandello’s theatre. Central to the study is the interview with Cosma, an exponent of Romanian integralism, a movement that aimed to synthesize Futurism, Expressionism, and Constructivism. In the interview, Pirandello reflects on the relationship between art and life, on the rejection of any rigid aesthetic codification, and on the conception of theatre as a free and dynamic form, founded on creative movement. Finally, the essay contributes to highlighting a critical testimony that has been little explored to date, one that is significant for understanding the international reception of Pirandello and the dialogue established by the author with the European avant-garde movements of the early 20th century.

Il saggio analizza e presenta, per la prima volta in traduzione italiana, una intervista a Luigi Pirandello, poco nota, pubblicata nel 1925 sulla rivista romena d’avanguardia «Integral» e firmata da Mihail Cosma. Attraverso la ricostruzione del contesto culturale europeo degli anni Venti, il contributo mette in luce la ricezione del teatro pirandelliano negli ambienti futuristi e d’avanguardia, Particolare attenzione è riservata al rapporto tra Pirandello e le poetiche della simultaneità, del movimento e del superamento della teatralità tradizionale, anche alla luce delle riflessioni di Filippo Tommaso Marinetti sul teatro pirandelliano. Centrale risulta il colloquio con Cosma, esponente dell’integralismo romeno, corrente che mirava a sintetizzare futurismo, espressionismo e costruttivismo. Nell’intervista Pirandello riflette sul rapporto tra arte e vita, sul rifiuto di ogni rigida codificazione estetica e sulla concezione del teatro come forma libera e dinamica, fondata sul movimento creativo. Il saggio contribuisce infine a valorizzare una testimonianza critica finora poco indagata, significativa per comprendere la ricezione internazionale di Pirandello e il dialogo instaurato dall’autore con le avanguardie europee del primo Novecento.
