This essay aims to draw attention to the nucleus of Neapolitan paintings in the so-called Truchsessian Gallery, the remarkable collection of Count Joseph Franz Anton Truchsess von Waldburg-Zeil-Wurzach (1748-1813), dean of Strasbourg Cathedral and canon of the Metropolitan Chapter of Cologne. The collection was exhibited in London from1803, and the exhibition, followed by two rounds of auctions in 1804 and 1806, had an international resonance and was very impressive to William Blake in 1804.
Il saggio intende segnalare all’attenzione il nucleo di pittura napoletana presente nella cosiddetta Truchsessian Gallery, la cospicua e rilevante collezione del conte Joseph Franz Anton Truchsess von Waldburg-Zeil-Wurzach (1748-1813), decano della cattedrale di Strasburgo e canonico del Capitolo Metropolitano di Colonia. La rac-colta venne esposta a Londra a partire dal 1803, e l’esposizione, cui seguirono due tornate d’asta nel 1804 e nel 1806, ne offrì una risonanza internazionale, impressionando William Blake che la visitò nel 1804.
