The walkers who move through the landscape and their psychic-spiritual space, the body as an experience, the peace as an interior state, and the sociality as participation: a transdisciplinary dialogue is promoted about paths as opportunity to reconciliate with nature and the others, and to become a tool for peace. With the intent of implementing a transdisciplinary approach, this contribution develops a debate across different disciplines and points of view: geography, sociology, phenomenology, landscape, pilgrimage, itinerary planning, traveler’s experience. The body, in its phenomenological and experiential dimension, is also seen as a sensorimotor structure. The centrality of the movement is pointed out, both in physical and psychic-mental space, and also the interdependence between inside and outside. Different aspects of walking emerge: the travelers’ movement, the spatial proximity with humans and nature, the itinerary, and the encounter between tourists and residents. Reflections are also presented on the link between peace and nature, collective memories, places of identity, cultural heritage, local communities, territory, landscape, educational experiences, integral sustainability. Abstract

Some references come from projects as the European Itinerary of the Via Romea Germanica and the educational path of the International School of Peace in the Monte Sole Park of Marzabotto.
