Since 2022, the archaeological site of Tabernae (Lalla Djilaliya, Morocco) has been the subject of non-destructive investigations and stratigraphic excavations by the Italian-Moroccan mission of the University of Basilicata (Unibas) and the Institut des Sciences de l’Archéologie et du Patrimoine (Insap) of Rabat. The stratigraphic investigations have identified a base or an altar (?) dedicated to the Genius loci by Vallius Maximianus, procurator of the Province of Mauretania. The inscription represents the third attestation in Mauretania Tingitana and the fifth in the provincial context of this important procurator.
