The essay delves into the Carlo Levi’s political confinement in Grassano and Aliano – two villages located in the Matera province – in 1934 and 1935. Starting from the analysis of a landmark case conducted through the documents in the archives, the examination of the confinement is explored thanks to the insights of the most remarked historiographic events. Therefore, the aim of this document results being the comprehension of the repressive logic under the Fascist regime and the consequent effects on the democratic reconstruction of Italy. Moreover, the study of administrative procedures allows us to grasp the institutional processes at the origin of anti-fascist political persecution.

Abstract
