Inediti tra le carte dell'epistolario pirandelliano

The constant and capillary research work carried out as part of the work for the National Edition of Luigi Pirandello's Opera omnia has led to the collection of a large quantity of epistolary testimonies (autograph and typewritten) kept in Libraries, Research Institutes and Foundations scattered throughout Italy and abroad. Some of these findings have turned out to be unpublished. This is the case of the Historical Archive of the Foundation of the “Corriere della Sera” in Milan, which preserves, in addition to already published material, nine letters by Pirandello hitherto never reported and not included in Carteggi inediti - the volume that has most investigated Pirandello's connection with the authoritative Lombard newspaper. Missives - we said - of considerable interest, spanning a period of time from 1909 to 1932 and addressed to several influential addressees of the “Corriere family,” such as Ugo Ojetti, Alberto Albertini, Maffio Maffi, Giuseppe Stefani, Aldo Borelli and Oreste Rizzini. Important pieces, full of useful details to complete the mosaic that forms the background of Pirandello's articulate relationship with the prestigious newspaper.

Il costante e capillare lavoro di ricerca realizzato nell’ambito dei lavori per l’Edizione Nazionale dell’Opera omnia di Luigi Pirandello ha portato alla raccolta di una grande quantità di testimonianze epistolari (autografe e dattiloscritte) custodite presso Biblioteche, Istituti di Ricerca e Fondazioni disseminati sul territorio nazionale e all’estero. Alcuni di questi reperti sono risultati inediti. È il caso dell’Archivio storico della Fondazione del «Corriere della Sera» di Milano che conserva, oltre a materiale già pubblicato, nove lettere di Pirandello finora mai segnalate e non incluse in Carteggi inediti – il volume che ha maggiormente indagato il legame di Pirandello con l’autorevole giornale lombardo. Missive – dicevamo – di notevole interesse, che abbracciano un arco di tempo che va dal 1909 al 1932 e indirizzate a diversi autorevoli destinatari della «famiglia del Corriere», quali Ugo Ojetti, Alberto Albertini, Maffio Maffi, Giuseppe Stefani, Aldo Borelli e Oreste Rizzini. Tessere importanti, ricche di dettagli utili a completare il mosaico che fa da sfondo all’articolato rapporto di Pirandello con la prestigiosa testata.
