In 2016 and 2017 the first archaeological research, promoted by the School of Specialisation in Archaeological Heritage of Matera (SSBA-UNIBAS), was carried out at the site of S.M d’Anglona. It was part of a landscape archaeology project that has been taking place in the chora of Herakleia over the last few years. We discuss some of the samples of the mobile artefacts that were discovered both in the intrasite survey and in the archaeological excavations. Even if the research is still at the beginning, except for the protohistoric phase, the most conspicuous testimonies refer to the presence of a settlement, whose main phases of occupation can be classified between the late Classical and the late Hellenistic Age and, subsequently, between the high and low Medieval age.

Abstract
In 2016 and 2017 the first archaeological research, promoted by the School of Specialisation in Archaeological Heritage of Matera (SSBA-UNIBAS), was carried out at the site of S.M d’Anglona. It was part of a landscape archaeology project that has been taking place in the chora of Herakleia over the last few years. We discuss some of the samples of the mobile artefacts that were discovered both in the intrasite survey and in the archaeological excavations. Even if the research is still at the beginning, except for the protohistoric phase, the most conspicuous testimonies refer to the presence of a settlement, whose main phases of occupation can be classified between the late Classical and the late Hellenistic Age and, subsequently, between the high and low Medieval age.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
