La chiesa di S. Antonio da Padova a Ginosa. Espressione culturale di una tradizione comunitaria locale

About: Restoration, understood as the combination of all technical and organizational actions aimed at keeping the memory of a building or its parts alive, in the Brandian definition of the term, concerns historical-artistic artifacts, ancient and/or worthy of being preserved for their figurative and documentary qualities, within the broader context of pre-existing structures. Based on this premise, the present contribution aims to illustrate the research conducted that, from the general lines of the methodology of restoration and critical analysis of architectural heritage, between theoretical thought and operational practice, guided the restoration site of the church of St. Anthony of Padua in Ginosa (TA), a small chapel which, according to local historiography, stands in the heart of the historic center of the town, preserving a remarkable, albeit unexpected, artistic heritage that influenced the restoration’s content, regulating the degree and intensity of intervention.
