Università in città. Il progetto come incubatore di politiche culturali.

Some experiments in Matera show how the University can be a cultural intermediary/facilitator in the relationship between city and administrations. This paper describes an ongoing URGES project where the final goal is to realize forms of urban greenery on a building. To get there, experiments are in place to involve different subjects, the people, and cultural interventions. The focus is on urban quality and architecture, relationships, effective enhancement of the transformative capacity of the university within the project processes at both an architectural, urban and a wider (landscape) scale. The results manifest in terms of efficiency (energy, human and cultural terms) and psychological well-being. The laboratories Inhabit Poetically the city already adopted elsewhere by the authors, and open also for tourists, local groups and university students, become a way to know and value the specific points of view of those who live in the area. Attention to details and beauty, can be elicited as means to reverse the trend of depressed peripheries used to complaints and subsidiary.
