The contribution aims to investigate the role of the Palazzina di Comando in Taranto within the context of modern constructions, in an era characterised by an artistic and cultural fervour that saw the emergence of monumental architecture, in an eclectic or rationalist style, the result of extreme and varied creativity. This architectural heritage, crucial for the development of 20th century architecture and a point of reference for contemporary creations, is currently the subject of careful reflection. The Palazzo Brasini, a tangible symbol of the architecture of the Fascist period, represents a historical and cultural testimony of an era characterised by monumental ambitions. In particular, the Palazzo dell’Idroscalo di Taranto, commissioned by the Regia Aeronautica, presents an eclectic style that blends the functionalism of the period with Baroque flair, creating a unique and relevant combination. For this reason, the building is an example that deserves to be preserved and protected. The experimental technologies, materials and finishes adopted in that period can be the subject of further study today, allowing for a greater understanding so that the best solutions can be adopted for their recovery. The contribution, therefore, intends to deepen our knowledge of this artefact and propose compatible recovery strategies.
