Lo sviluppo locale nel Materano, tra turismo e pandemia

Local Development in the Materano Area, between Tourism and Pandemic Programmes supported within the LEADER framework aim to enhance territorial capital, to mend the social and economic fabric and stimulate investment in rural areas, creating new workplaces and limiting the risk of abandonment. In the 2014-2020 programming period, tourism represents a strategic axis for local development. This contribution proposes an analysis of the Materano area, where the rural dimension is characterised by significant agrifood production and which, more recently, has seen cultural tourism as an opportunity of development, thanks also to the driving force represented by Matera 2019, European Capital of Culture. While the tourism sector has helped stimulate investment in this area, the pandemic Covid-19 has highlighted the risks of tourism monoculture and the worrying infrastructural gap, inviting us to imagine new perspectives for the future.
