In the ancient Mediterranean context, the thermal culture represented one of the distinctive characteristics of Romani- zation. In the Lucanian area (Basilicata region), the roman site of Cugno dei Vagni (Nova Siri, MT) is known for the presence of baths with important dimensions and decorative features. Recently the University of Basilicata has started non-destructive analysis investigations (magnetic prospecting). Confirming the role of the baths at the service of the activities and movements connected with the ancient coastal road and the Sinni river, recent investigations have highli- ghted new structural elements connecting the baths area and the western plateau.
