The research was carried out during the spring - summer of 2006 at Gaudiano di Lavello in Southern Italy. The sowing of tomato and melon took place on May 12, 2006 in an unheated greenhouse using 3 different biodegradable pots made of thermoplastic starch, one containing also the 25% of compost, and the other two additives with 5 or 20% of plant fiber; finally a polypropylene pot was used as a control.
