The study of knowledge in the formation of loyalty at cultural festivals has only recently attracted the attention of scholars. Much remains to be understood. This study develops a knowledge-based model of attendee loyalty in which the role of authenticity is assessed. It considers knowledge acquired during the festival and its role in loyalty formation, also in relation to authenticity. A Structural Equation Model is applied to a sample of visitors to a festival annually held in southern Italy. The results show that acquired knowledge has a positive impact on loyalty and that this relationship is mediated by authenticity.
