In a paper published in the «Deutsche Zeitung», April 1st, 1927, which has so far escaped the attention of scholars, Wilamowitz, while reiterating the old arguments about Germany undefeated in field in WWI, welcomes the regained international role of German science and the support for research by the republican government (in which then the NDVP participated).
