This essay reports various excerpts from the themes in class of the Italian Literature students of the degree course in Primary Education of the University of Basilicata who dealt with a significant step in Dante’s Vita nuova between March and April 2020, when face-to-face lessons have been replaced by digital teaching. The poet’s words, imprinted on a PC screen – the only possible meeting “place” between teacher and students – and the students’ reflections photograph the time just passed as best they could and legitimize the tried teaching method that has in the written word the main focus of the comparison with Dante.
