The aim of this paper is to investigate the problem of the cults of the sanctuary at San Biagio alla Venella (Matera) on the basis of both the literary and epigraphical evidence. Th e traditional connection with Artemis is questioned and a more convincing cult of Zeus Aglaos (and Hera) is suggested.
