Un rimboschimento eseguito dopo l’ultima guerra mondiale sul Gargano (FG)

A post war reforestation in Gargano (Pulia-Italy). The aim of this article is to examine a post war intervention of hydraulic-forest on a degraded land, because of an excessive exploitation of natural resources and also to face the population primary needs. According to the study conducted by the authors, the intervention wouldn’t have been successful without the gas diffusion in cylinders for cooking food and if the economic conditions of the local populations had not improved. In fact, the energy needs of the populations and the poor conditions had destroyed the forest vegetation and led to the soil degradation within a radius of several kilometers including cities and country sides. The annual growth of forests was far less than the consumption of wood for energy use by local populations The political choices contributed to these results, which led to the hydrogeological settlement on an area of about 1200 ha. In particular, that settlement was possible thanks to the special and extraordinary resources in an extremely critical social situation because of unemployment condition that generated high social tensions.
