We state a characterization of endomorphisms of the Riordan group by means of suitable maps, acting on power series, that we name the coordinates of the endomorphism. Specializing coordinates we recover semi-groups of endomorphisms having the Appell subgroup or the Associated subgroup as an invariant. We also provide an explicit description of inner automorphisms of the Riordan group in terms of automorphisms of formal power series.
