The work is part of a multidisciplinary research project involving several Italian universities, the Municipality of Matera, heritage bodies, industrial partners and economic operators of the restoration sector. The main objective of the research activity is the development and the implementation of a technological platform – IES, Integrated Environmental System - as a decision support tool for a smart maintenance of the built heritage. Thanks to the innovation of the new technologies of information and communication, the IES platform will provide all the information necessary to evaluate continuously the conservation status of the architectural heritage conservation. In this way, restoration and maintenance works could be scheduled according to the criterion of “minimum intervention and maximum effectiveness”. The research activity is focused on the preservation of the architectural heritage of the city of Matera, European Capital of Culture for the year 2019. Currently, the oldest part of the city, known as Sassi, UNESCO heritage since 1992, is affected by widespread and severe degradation phenomena caused by the high vulnerability to the exposition environment aggressions of the typical construction material that is calcarenite, a soft limestone with a high open porosity. This paper describes the methodology for assessing calcarenite behavior on capillary water absorption and water vapor permeability that will be adopted for the implementation of the technological platform.

Abstract
This paper describes the methodology for assessing calcarenite behavior on capillary water absorption and water vapor permeability that will be adopted for the implementation of the technological platform.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
