This paper deals with beam models for buckling and post-buckling analysis of multilayered elasto-meric bearings. In particular the paper reproposes a linear-elastic geometrically exact beam model and obtains in closed form the parameters of critical and post-critical behavior of the structural element. Starting from these results, the paper examines in details some beam models suggested in the literature (only for the analysis of the critical behavior), developed from the classical elastic beam model of the linear theory by adding "ad hoc" nonlinear terms, and shows the equivalent behavior of a constrained beam model of neo-hookean elastic material.

Abstract

This paper deals with beam models for buckling and post-buckling analysis of multilayered elasto-meric bearings. In particular the paper reproposes a linear-elastic geometrically exact beam model and obtains in closed form the parameters of critical and post-critical behavior of the structural element. Starting from these results, the paper examines in details some beam models suggested in the literature (only for the analysis of the critical behavior), developed from the classical elastic beam model of the linear theory by adding "ad hoc" nonlinear terms, and shows the equivalent behavior of a constrained beam model of neo-hookean elastic material.
