This study would like to provide some insights on the temporal and spatial evolution of local scour below low-head spillways. To this purpose, some experiments were carried out in a 1 m wide and 20 m long rectangular straight channel. The jet was generated by an ogee crest spillway and its energy was partly dissipated by a positive-step stilling basin. All the experiments were conducted under steady flow conditions. The runs were of long durations, typically 3 days, mainly to reach conditions of quasi-equilibrium. Experimental data were first interpreted on the light of literature approaches, then findings are presented on scour cavities profiles and temporal progress of the extreme scour depth.

Abstract
This study would like to provide some insights on the temporal and spatial evolution of local scour below low-head spillways. To this purpose, some experiments were carried out in a 1 m wide and 20 m long rectangular straight channel. The jet was generated by an ogee crest spillway and its energy was partly dissipated by a positive-step stilling basin. All the experiments were conducted under steady flow conditions. The runs were of long durations, typically 3 days, mainly to reach conditions of quasi-equilibrium. Experimental data were first interpreted on the light of literature approaches, then findings are presented on scour cavities profiles and temporal progress of the extreme scour depth.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
