In this paper the authors propose a study aimed at using Construction and Demolition (C&D) recycled aggregate for the construction of road embankments, road foundations, draining layers and environmental recovery works. The study was conducted by individually analyzing three particle size fractions, ensuring the best use for each of them. After that, operating in compliance with the requirements imposed by the Italian legislation, new mix-designs were studied using three aggregates. For the foundation layers, where a good abrasion resistance is required, the use of C&D has highlighted some limitations. Therefore it has been chosen to mix the C&D with EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) slag aggregate which, in addition to being a waste material, has excellent resistance to abrasion. In the mixes of two recycled aggregates it was preferred to keep the EAF slag to a minimum because of its high cost, developing recycled eco-compatible mixtures with low economic impact, suitable for the construction of road foundation layers.

Abstract
In the mixes of two recycled aggregates it was preferred to keep the EAF slag to a minimum because of its high cost, developing recycled eco-compatible mixtures with low economic impact, suitable for the construction of road foundation layers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
