A simple method for the prediction of the load-settlement curve of a single, axially loaded pile was developed by Fleming (1992). A careful review of the existing literature has been carried out, allowing the construction of a database covering over 250 case histories concerning piles tested in axial static loading. The collection of a wide experimental evidence has been useful for two purposes. Firstly, back-analyses of all case histories have provided further support to the validation of Fleming's method; secondly, the interpretation of the results of back-analyses has also allowed to suggest useful guidelines for the application of the method for class A predictions (Lambe, 1973) in the design stage.

Abstract
A simple method for the prediction of the load-settlement curve of a single, axially loaded pile was developed by Fleming (1992). A careful review of the existing literature has been carried out, allowing the construction of a database covering over 250 case histories concerning piles tested in axial static loading. The collection of a wide experimental evidence has been useful for two purposes. Firstly, back-analyses of all case histories have provided further support to the validation of Fleming's method; secondly, the interpretation of the results of back-analyses has also allowed to suggest useful guidelines for the application of the method for class A predictions (Lambe, 1973) in the design stage.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
