On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are pleased to propose the 2010 joint edition of the 6th European Conference on Pesticides and Related Organic Micropollutants in the Environment and the 12th Symposium on Chemistry and Fate of Modern Pesticides, Matera (Italy) September 7th -10th, 2010. The previous joint editions of these events were held in Halkidiki, Greece (2004); Almería, Spain (2006); and Marseille, France (2008). The aims of this congress are: • to provide a communication forum for the exchange of knowledge and technology among scientists interested in Pesticides, Micropollutants, Environment and Food; • to foster collaboration and the exchange of opinions among scientists, engineers, industries, education concerning organic and inorganic contaminants, risk evaluation in environment and food, analytical determinations, soil and water recovery, new products, biological implications; • to highlight the scientific progress of enterprises and manufacturers; • to enhance the image of Environmental sciences. These events are supported by the “European-Mediterranean Association for Environmental Education Assessment and Protection - ENEAP” (http://www.uoi.gr/research/labs/envitech/ENEAP_EN.htm) and the “International Association of Environmental Analytical Chemistry - IAEAC” (http:// www.iaeac.ch/index.html)”. The congress is organised in six sessions, with invited key lectures given by outstanding scientists. The programme includes oral and posters communications chosen on the basis of abstract selection. After the conference, a special issue in the International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry (I.F. 1.7) will be provided for publication, which will be peer-reviewed following the conventional rules of this journal.
