The study reports the carbon footprint (CF) of a 0.75 L red wine bottle calculated considering the carbon fluxes at field, winery, packing and distribution stages. Two production systems were compared: sustainable (organic fertilization, no-tillage) and conventional (mineral fertilization, tillage). We assessed a CF equal to 0.03 kg C for each bottle for the sustainable production while it was 1.0 kg C for the conventional. Based on the incidence of each stage on the CF, it emerges that field operations are of great significance in terms of CF.

Abstract
The study reports the carbon footprint (CF) of a 0.75 L red wine bottle calculated considering the carbon fluxes at field, winery, packing and distribution stages. Two production systems were compared: sustainable (organic fertilization, no-tillage) and conventional (mineral fertilization, tillage). We assessed a CF equal to 0.03 kg C for each bottle for the sustainable production while it was 1.0 kg C for the conventional. Based on the incidence of each stage on the CF, it emerges that field operations are of great significance in terms of CF.File in questo prodotto:
