In the geotechnical community it is known that a greater content of calcium carbonate increases the stiffness of the clays. This paper intends to present the first notes about the studies on the possibility to correlate the level of the seismic site amplification and the content of calcium carbonate, without direct drilling in the holes. In the Sant'Arcangelo basin, measurements of the site amplification have been taken through the HVSR techniques, both in dry or in damp conditions, to keep separate a possible cause of variation of the observed values. In the same conditions have been made: • particle size analysis to check the homogeneity of the samples; • mineralogical analysis to establish the content of calcium carbonate percentage; • spectrophotoradiometric analysis (SFR) to identify the intensity of the spectral signature of calcium carbonate. The results demonstrate: • that it is possible to recognise the relative calcium carbonate contents by the mean of the SFR analysis, in theory without drilling in the holes; • and that it exists an inverse correlation between the site amplification and calcium carbonate contents, as it was expected by theoretical models. Then the research has gone on through the identification of the CaCO3 by an imagine made from a aerial platform with multispectral sensor .

Abstract
Then the research has gone on through the identification of the CaCO3 by an imagine made from a aerial platform with multispectral sensor .| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
