Articolo scientifico pubblicato sui Quaderni Scientifici del Dipartimento di Matematica dell'Università di Torino. ABSTRACT: A thermodynamic model of a relativistic perfect fluid with a vectorial internal state variable is developed in the framework of general relativity. In order to investigate the restrictions on the constitutive equations due to the second law of thermodynamics, a suitable covariant Clausius-Duhem inequality is proposed. Finally, the model is applied to obtain a modification of the classical theory of heat conduction, allowing a finite speed of propagation of thermal disturbances.
