The text analyzes the complex nationalization of ecclesiastical heritage in post-unification Italy (1860-1867). The research focuses on the anomaly of Matera, which in 1868 approved the establishment of a civic art gallery even before the capital, Potenza. Despite the assignment of numerous assets (including eleven valuable paintings from Ferrandina), the project was marred by serious administrative inertia and delays in the removal of the works, documented by harsh ministerial warnings. The study, still ongoing, aims to reconstruct the dispersion of this heritage, given that the art gallery was never officially opened.

Abstract
The text analyzes the complex nationalization of ecclesiastical heritage in post-unification Italy (1860-1867). The research focuses on the anomaly of Matera, which in 1868 approved the establishment of a civic art gallery even before the capital, Potenza. Despite the assignment of numerous assets (including eleven valuable paintings from Ferrandina), the project was marred by serious administrative inertia and delays in the removal of the works, documented by harsh ministerial warnings. The study, still ongoing, aims to reconstruct the dispersion of this heritage, given that the art gallery was never officially opened.File in questo prodotto:
