This contribution focuses on recent archaeological research at the site of Kastrì on the Acheron River, conducted thanks to the collaboration between the Italian archaeological mission (ISPCCNR and University of Basilicata) and the Greek Antiquities Authority. The research is being conducted as part of a landscape archaeology project in an area where, according to the most widely accepted hypotheses, the ancient site of Pandosìa is located. The actions carried out so far aim to acquire useful information on the Hellenistic and Byzantine phases, construction types and techniques and the quarries. They also focus on the phases of occupation of Kastrì, and the study of artefacts. The overall goal is to understand the transformations of the landscape and its exploitation between ancient and Medieval times.
