Abstract
In Spain, social housing experienced an evolutionary history characterized by design experimentation and by the adoption of innovative technologies for the construction of important works. To the point of being considered today as important architectural heritages to be safeguarded. The contribution illustrates peculiarities and original solutions present in a residential complex built in Valencia in the late 1950s by architect Santiago Artal Ríos. In the complex, named Santa María Micaela, the relationships between formal components, principles of the Modern Movement and technical-constructive aspects are distinguishable, achieving a balance between the different technological-constructive, organizational-distributive, environmental-climatic and figurative-formal subsystems. In addition to the analysis of the structure and architecture, an analysis was carried out from the point of view of energy and climatic comfort of a typical apartment in the building in order to define how an architecture more than fifty years old meets the most modern housing standards and what the solutions might be in a possible energy upgrading project that first and foremost safeguards the architectural peculiarities of the structure| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
