This paper analyzes the evolution of the relationship of the external areas of the Mons. Brancaccio Care Residence in Matera with the rest of the city: from separation fence to neighborhood civic center. Specifically, the study will focus on the project, currently underway, of the Parco dei Sorrisi, a healing garden and senior park, and how this can be generative of a virtuous model of relations between the care facility and the surrounding neighborhoods.
