The main mathematical problem for retrieving atmospheric profile of temperature and chemical concentration is the inversion of the radiative transfer equation (RTE). An algorithm is proposed for the RTE numerical inversion, where the atmosphere is divided in N layers and the related geophysical parameters are represented by their average values. A model is presented for fast computation of radiances and Jacobian.
