The attention accorded in the last years to the reconstruction of a possible kantian philosophy of language shows, in the first place, both the profitable interpretation and the use of the issue of schematism, as it appears in the first and in the third kantian critique, to indicate the way in which it is constructed and defined the notion of meaning. In the second place, taking cue from the inversion of tendency that much philosophy of language have had in last forty years thanks to the cognitivist turn, the schematism of productive immagination can be thought as the point of encounter that gives a possible image of the meaning and of mental representations. In this picture, it assumes a great importance the reflection of two authoritative contemporary Italian philosophers, Umberto Eco and Emilio Garroni: according to them, the theoretical place through which it is possible to reach one completed philosophical reflection on the language is just the third critique: the two different interpretations of the third critique contribute to introduce a kantian approach in that particular debate between philosophy of language and philosophy of mind as concern the nature of mental representation.
