The results of a Full Scale experimental campaign carried out on a base isolated apartment building are presented. The building is located in Rapolla, Potenza. The seismic design of the structure concerned the HDRB isolation system. An alternative isolation system made of Friction Sliders (FS), has also been implemented. This allowed to test both the design isolation system (28 HDRB), and the mixed system (HDRB & FS), in which 16 FS are coupled with 12 of the 28 HDRB of the design pattern, providing the horizontal restoring force. In the article, the dynamic response during the free vibrations of both systems is examined. Also a comparison of the two responses, in terms of an equivalent ground acceleration of the release, is proposed.
