Agriculture: Polymers in Crop Protection.

The use of plastic material in agriculture has been growing during the last decades thanks to the benefits it provides in agricultural production. The durability of a plastic material is related to meteorological and environmental conditions, as well as to the consequences of the stress it is subjected to during its working life. An improvement in the technical design of the agricultural plastic material is connected with a closer link between its chemical formulation and engineering performance. This entry presents, on the basis of an analysis about the main technical achievements on the improvement of the engineering properties of agricultural plastic materials, a general review about polymer selection and techniques of application of plastic materials in crop protection.
