Abstract

Monitoring the genetic resources still ‘in situ’ cultivating and keeping allowed to identify ecotype and natural population genetically stable in particular environments. In Casalbuono (SA) territory in ‘Parco del Cilento’, South Italy, 97 common bean accessions were collected in the kitchen garden for family use: 39 with determinate and 58 with indeterminate growth habit. All accessions were grouped in 18 ‘morphological type’ by seed trait analysis and farmer interviews. The phaseolin patterns showed that the accessions were the 98.12% from Andean (‘T’ e ‘C’ phaseolin type) and the 9.88% from Mesoamerican (‘S’ phaseolin type) origin. Common bean determinate growth habit accessions had not ‘C’ phaseolin type. These results allowed to begin drawing up a technical policies for production of Casalbuono (SA) certificated common beans
